Why bother learning 1LLL 56?

Why bother learning 1LLL 56? It is cool; recognition from only one side (the top); only 40 algs, far fewer than most 1LLL sets; the standard OLL 56 alg is 14 moves while 1LLL 56 takes roughly the same count to finish the whole last layer; and it is easy to learn with proper sorting of cases and finger tricks.

How to read the fingertrick icons

Press Show fingertricks under an alg. Icons sit under the move they belong to, so the notation stays readable.

Finger icons

PRL
  • • The red finger is the finger to use.
  • R / L under the icon = which hand.
  • P on the palm = push. No letter means a normal turn.
  • • Two icons under one move = both hands act on it.

Regrip icons

RRL
  • • Red line below the hand = thumb on bottom.
  • • Red line above the hand = thumb on top.
  • • House icon = back to home grip.
  • R / L = the regripping hand.

Moves in a blue box are done simultaneously; brackets like (U) are part of the notation.
